KenDor Textiles (1953) Ltd. was formed in 1975 as a partnership between Ken, Doug and Grant Gregson, and Marvin Carsley and was located in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia. The name "KenDor" derives from Ken and Dorothy Gregson, and was selected in order to reflect the family's commitment to quality, service, and integrity. This attitude continues through to this day, and will continue into the future.

The company was established in order to provide Over-the-Counter fabric stores with quality products at very competitive prices. From the outset, KenDor had an immediate impact on the market. By offering very well-styled and seasonable fashion items with exceptionally competitive pricing and great service, KenDor quickly became one of Canada's fashion fabric leaders.

The growth of the company meant that by 1978 KenDor had to relocate from the old location in a converted three-story jam factory in downtown Vancouver to a large one story building in the suburb of Richmond, B.C., in order to have better facilities from which to serve our customers. With the guidance of Ken and Doug, the total support of Marvin, the drive of Grant, the financial expertise of Bill Reid, and the solid support of key suppliers and staff to back them up, KenDor was able to make strong inroads into supplying the garment industry with the same quality and service that had been available to the O-T-C trade.

During the late 70's and early 80's, KenDor evolved into one of the more highly regarded suppliers of cotton wovens to the garment industry. KenDor was one of the companies instrumental in the movement to fabrics that were reflective of the new "casual" life-style. The introduction of woven cottons, denims, and yarn dyes were key elements of KenDor's success during this period. In the middle 80's, the introduction of the casual knits to our line meant that we were even better positioned to serve the industry with a broader product range.

In 1988, KenDor took another step forward when Doug purchased the company from his partners. All of the principles that his father practiced while he was in business are still in place today. KenDor is still operated as a family business, as our customers will attest ! Doug's brother Ken oversees all of the warehouse operations.
